They then made me sign a release form so they could start a dialog about me with the doctor they prescribed. In the summer, disability e-mailed me informing me I would have to receive updated evaluations to continue to get accommodations. These were sufficient, in addition to corroboration from therapists and psychiatrists, to enable me to receive accommodation for the last two semesters. Of course I had no proof, so I went to a place on Crt st to get an updated evaluation which again, diagnosed me with ADHD. Then in 2019, I recalled that I had received an adhd diagnosis as a child from Boston Children's. I have an iep that gives an autism diagnosis in high school. What it sounds like you're projecting your own understanding of the world in order to take offense to a characterization that conflicts with your own.Īlso, who said I was a dude? Is that another lynchpin to your characterization? There is no sob story, I'm telling you exactly everything as it is. I am working class and yes, most of my friends/family pay AT MOST 2500 for a used car from the 00s that they will then spend the next five ten years doing personal repair on. What did I say in my post that gave any indication of character? I am sorry you are going through this and I wish you luck in getting the support you need. On the columbia insurance all psychiatry & therapy appointments are just a $20 copay! Outside of Columbia, any psychiatrist can give you a diagnosis, basically. Stimulant abuse is a huge problem at universities, and CPS avoids the liability by not personally giving anyone a diagnosis that grants them access to stimulant medications. Just go to an outside provider and they will be able to diagnose you without as much bureaucracy as Columbia requires. Even if you are trying to transfer you prescription to CPS, they will only accept it if you do the evaluation. You cannot get a diagnosis from CPS unless you do the assessments that cost thousands of dollars. I got temporary accommodations but they said if I wanted permanent ones beyond a year I'd need a neuropsychological exam and not a psychiatrist (or two) confirming things with that form and evaluations. To get permanent accommodations for ADHD from Columbia you need to get the full-blown test and not simply get evaluated by a psychiatrist.ODS said they only accepted the 8 hour diagnostic tests not psychiatrist evaluations, otherwise it'd be only a temporary accommodation. I am pasting some excerpts but I recommend going to read those comments to get more context. I am not sure if this situation applies to you but I recently saw some comments on Columbia Confessions facebook page discussing something similar.
